Avarice

He, marked out,
her body staked,
played all, reward,
love, no, mistake,
avarice, her creed,
take, move on, no,
a man, this man,
no way… she’s his.

Virtue

Ever searching,
virtue by line, no
sign, he’s none, not
making up, to late,
his brain in weekend
mode, it’s stopped
raining, maybe paint
the fence, wife wants
the house done, he’ll
think again, a virtue?
‘Where you going?’
‘Down the pub!’

Wrath

And, in a moment all gone,
no going back, not one thing,
an adding up, the summing of
all fears, no logic, circumstance
released, within all, wrath distils.

Store is Open!

As River Dixon says, the Potter’s Grove Press store opened yesterday, and, as it happens, ‘Shorts – A Take On Poetry’ was published a year ago today – ever grateful to you, River – All the best from England – Eric.

The Stories In Between

The Potter’s Grove Press store is now open for business. Our titles are available to purchase directly from us in eBook and paperback. Buying from us instead of from Amazon or another of the big online dealers enables the author and us to retain a larger profit from sales. So, if you want to show more support to indie authors and publishers, buying direct is a great way to do it.

eBooks are available in three different formats: MOBI (Kindle), ePUB, and PDF. This enables people to read our books on a variety of devices and apps as opposed to being limited to Kindle, which previously was the only option. We have a page, here, giving some guidance on what to do with the eBook file once you have purchased and downloaded.

We’re still building up our paperback inventory but we have most titles in stock. Unfortunately, at this…

The labyrinth

Pleased to see ‘The Darkest Fairytale’ posting again, her writing has been missed.

The Darkest Fairytale

I close my eyes & I begin to dream
Only to be awoken by echoing screams,
A maze of paths & endless patterns
“Holy fuck” how did this happen?

I drift around there’s no way out
Barely can see, I panic & shout
Menacing roars from far ahead
It knows I’m here & it needs to be fed.

I run around it’s a lot to apprehend
Paths lead to nowhere except dead ends,
The pattern is complex, I’m not going to lie
I’m scared I’m lost & I don’t want to die.

Instincts surge and logic appears
I’ll find the centre, everything is clear
I’ll obtain a key to open this door
With the courage to slay a Minotaur.

Starting to wish I listened to my teacher
How did Theseus kill this creature?
No time to think, the roars get closer
I stumble & fall, “shit”
Into the Minotaurs enclosure.
