When did he fall, bruised knee
a day or two ago, heart stitched
a week or more, his emptiness
the day she said he shouldn’t be
where she could see, he would
he said, today she told him sorry

Very well crafted view of one of those small tragedies every Life experiences.

What a sad one, Eric. I feel for that child. I hope she meant it. ❤

Your take on my words, Diana – so much deeper than I first had in mind, and now I find its mine. Originally a play on unrequited love, a proposal, a broken heart. A take on relationships seen in a different way now, more obvious, more real, the things words reveal…

I definitely read it as a relationship between a child and his mother. One of the fun things about your poems is how they’re open to interpretation and therefore personal.
