Key in the door
a little stiff
needs lubricating
she keeps telling him
Steps inside
odd smell greets
wet plaster wood dust
others homes not his
Walls holes overfilled
tiles broken rough edges
doors an inch too short
frames botched distorted
Windows condensation soaked
heating gone awry
message painted on a wall
your home as you left mine
…..
Prerequisite… drill then screw. Nailed it.
Key in the door? You nailed it, Eric.

‘Key in the lock’ – I guess as is could mean kick the door in! But you know me, Bojana – I like ambiguity.

My pleasure. What can I say?

Let’s just say the finish on an extension I had built a couple of years ago left a little to be desired – builders now back in Lithuania – the thought of Brexit scared them off not me!

I am sorry the hear that the building was not of your liking. Yet, this poem is and is not about that. As you said you like ambiguities. The poem is really great, Eric. As for sending the builders back to Lithuania you can guess my opinion 😊

Oh, yes I can guess! And thanks, Gabriela glad you liked the post – and there’s no ambiguity in that my dear friend.

Ah, doesn’t sound like fun, though the details are exquisite. What a visual. “your home as you left mine” says it all.

Thank you, Diana – thought I’d do something a little different – a post that is, not revenge renovation!

As renovations are taking place in our place in Athens right now, your poem fits my mood exactly. You nailed it, Eric!
Yes, the last line of the poem was greatness!

Good luck with the renovations, Basilike – according to legend Greeks build things to last or is that a myth!

A bit of both, my dear Eric! And thank you!
